As a Christian educator at FPU, I have the opportunity to integrate my faith with my craft of teaching in the discipline of Kinesiology. Teaching the principles of health and wellness, how to take care of our body, mind, and soul, blends perfectly with the idea of cherishing God's creation. I also have a strong connection to FPU, having attended as an undergraduate and graduate student between the years of 2010 and 2015. I consider myself a life-long member of the Sunbird community and enjoy being a part of this body of learners that represent our Lord and Savior in the pursuit of higher education.
I was born and raised in Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø California, and spent most of my college years attending FPU and living locally in the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ¹ÙÍø area. I attended FPU as an undergraduate and graduate student from 2010-2015, and received both a bachelor's and master's degree in Exercise Science. I went on to attend Concordia University Chicago from 2016-2019, having completed my Ph.D. in Health & Human Performance.
During my pursuit of a master's degree at FPU, I began teaching classes as a graduate assistant in the Kinesiology department. I fell in love with teaching and working with college-age students, which led to my desire to pursue a career in teaching higher education. After completing my Ph.D. in May of 2019, God opened the doors to teach full-time at FPU, which has been a dream come true.
My wife, Catherine, and I met at FPU as undergraduate students (we were both goalkeepers for the soccer teams) and began dating our senior year. We have been happily married for 8 years and have one child, a daughter named Reese (born January 20, 2022). She is the joy of our life! We also have a basset hound named Penny Lou, who is full of life and has been a great companion for the past few years.
When I'm not teaching, I spend a lot of time with my family and enjoy living an active lifestyle. I'm a huge advocate of staying physically fit and enjoy training for marathons, weightlifting regularly, and engaging in just about any physical activity. My wife and I both enjoy working with youth in various sports, while Catherine currently coaches cross country and track athletes at Sanger High School. We are both passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and enjoy sharing God's love with other members of our community.
